A Problem with Ivugi Community, as Portrayed by John Davis

John Davis, I think I spotted a fault in your scenario.

  • A) Each zag is married to an enók and vice versa.
  • B) Zags are supposed to be half as many as enóks.

This is incompatible, unless each zag is a bigamist.

I was assuming that a third of the tribe was celibate. A sort of extra supply for when an énok dies.

Oh, and how do you force male and female énoks (enóks) to stay celibate?

Any children forthcoming will be illegitimate and possibly regarded as almost the product of incest. Current western society has little esteem for celibacy, but past and more conservative cultures have held celibacy in high regard.

Yes, but this means the celibacy was chosen, by an élite, not imposed on masses who were not fortunate enough to marry.
